Thumbs up

I went to Bath and Body Works to day to get a star wristband(actually 2). I also bought the little keychain wallet for $6.

Anyways I had read that if you register to get the Truly Me perfume that you get a free charm for registering. The girl behind the counter told me she would give me one anyways-I was thrilled since I really didn't want the perfume, until I opened my bag and actually saw the charm.

It's not a little silver charm to go on a bracelet like I thought. It's a larger circular tag, about the size of a half dollar, on pink paper or cardboard encased in plastic with white stretchy string tied in a knot on the top. One side says "truly me" with the AG logo, and the other says "debuts October 17!" I was actually tempted to reserve the perfume so I could get the so called charm to put on my club bracelet. Now I'm glad I didn't.

The sales clerk did give me my purchase in a special red AG Real Beauty bag. She also gave me free a pack of Real Beauty promo post cards and a mini mag, a little bigger than the short story books. I want to put all these little promo things I've collcted in a memory book.

As for the wristbands, they are too small for adult wrists. They make good wristbands for kids or ponytail holder. I actually compared it with a regular ponytail rubberband and it's the same size as that. The red star is hard plastic. I intend on maybe putting them in my dolls hair or wrists, or as ponytail holders for me.

What kind of post cards, the kind you mail? Was there a coupon on the mini mag? The last mini mag we got from there had a coupon for a free shampoo or conditioner with purchase. Guess what DD's friend is getting for her birthday this weekend!

If the star is hard plastic, are the points "pointy"? Seems like they would be too sharp to wear as a bracelet, especially for a child. Or are they more rounded than they look?

The points are a little rounded. The band is only as wide as a ponytail holder, not like a livestrong band. They're not sharp but I'm guessing it could be uncomfortable if worn the wrong way. The band itself is black and says American Girl in white and red(cute).

The post cards are mailable. The fronts are in bright colors and say things like "Real Beauty is dreaming big dreams" and "real beauty is daring to be different". One of them says Truly Me and has a pic of the perfume on it. I would rather hang them on the wall or over my desk. There are 6 in the package. They remind me of the I can do anything cards.

The mini mag does have a coupon on the back. You can get a free bottle of shampoo or conditioner with a Real Beauty inside and out purchase. It says a $7.50 value so I'm assuming it's a full-size bottle. The offer expires at the end of November. The mini mag is mostly a promo for AG Magazine.

That plastic thing IS NOT the charm!

Our B&BW gave us that plastic thing and a $10 giftcard for not having the charm and apologized for it! They also told me AG didn't ship the charms and they might have them when the perfume comes in.

We got the $10 gift card instead of a charm also. They did give us the little plastic tag thingie! We used our club coupon for buy one get one free and we reserved the perfume.

AG must have not shipped the charms to any stores .... the $10 card did me fine and my DD loved the little plastic thingie and the postcards.

Really? So if I wait until the perfume comes in I can maybe get the charm? Do you know what it looks like? I wonder if it looks like a little bottle of perfume!

Yup, the points are rounded- but they are hard plastic so I can't see wearing one comfortably unless your wrists were absolutely teeny. It's so small!

I dropped by B&BW last weekend when I went to the mall to get some Papaya Body Butter at The Body Shop (which I love!). I got the raspberry "talk to me" lip balm, the free postcards, and 2 of the bands. A much better purchase was "The Bracelet" which supports AIDS funding, from the Body Shop. They make jelly ones (w/ a clasp!) now, so they're more affordable. I just really love how the Body Shop is so committed to social causes! Off my soapbox now...
